I am very blessed. 🙂
I bought a book yesterday, those thin and small type like the size of the daily bread. I bought it actually for two of my youths, hoping that they will read it and that God will use it to speak to them individually. Bought one for myself too, thought that i should read it ‘together’ with them (just nice there were only 3 on the shelves). Its called “Overcoming the Spirit of Dread with the Supernatural Power of God” with a big title “DON’T DREAD”, by Joyce Meyer. Didnt really go for any particular book so i just took this and tada.
I picked up the book just now and started reading.. alas! First paragraph and it spoke to me. I felt so blessed there and then! 🙂 Cos it was really purely to bless the two boys and yet i am blessed by God too! 😀 really speaks about the verse “he who refreshes others is he himself refreshed” Prov 11:25 isn’t it??
Anyway, let me share about why it speaks to me k. The first paragraph questions on how we look forward to each day – with great expectancy of good things to come or in a state of ongoing fear and dread? So i said that it speaks to me right, so whats my fear and whats my dread??
I am in this stage of transition in my life – going to NIE for my PGDE term. Transition to the adulthood slowly. My dread – i always dislike changes in life, having to adapt to a whole new environment all over again. My fear – i fear new environments, not sure what it is like, having to make friends all over again. I wonder why do i have such dreads and fears. Some people just loves school and new things. I wish i could do that!
Anyway, this book is thin and small but really good i believe after having read only one chapter – “the silent deception”. Just going to share two pointers out of the many, which is the first and the last in the chapter.
Firstly, let’s take a look at John 10:10
10The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it [b]overflows)
God always wants us to enjoy life. Jesus came that we might have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance! But dread of ordinary, everyday routine tasks will squeeze and steal the joy and peace out of life. Dread and worry are forms of fear that steals our joy and prevent us from living the way of life God intended for us the victorious children! God already sent His son Jesus so that we can enjoy life..why are we not?
Faith is the opposite of fear. You have either one. John 4:18 “fear involves torment” and prevents us from walking in the will of God which is also walking towards receiving the blessings of God!
Now, lets look at John 4:18
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
There is no fear in love. We all know that God loves us, but we all still have fear at some point in time of our lives, like i do fear now of what to expect in NIE, the fear of unexpectancy. Yet, the bible says there is no fear in love. None at all. As we journey on further with God, understand His love for us, we will slowly erase out all the fear. Perfect love casts out fear. Perfect understanding of God’s perfect love drives our fear perfectly. When we know how much God loves us, we will not fear or dread anything at all! 😀 Hallelujah!
Just to add on a little about this thing about dread. Perhaps we are all used to it, used to dreading things in our lives. Like before i read this book, i comforted myself in the humanly way that “it is ‘normal’ for me to dread new environment, it’s just me.” Let’s put a halt to it, shall we? Dreading is never desirable, never good to feel. It can be ‘normal’ to normal people, but not to the children of the victorious God! We do not need to dread because we believe and it is true that we have the best from God! 😀 😀
I am going to make it a point to remind myself John 10:10 this week and days after. I am sure it is going to be a different way of living, living victoriously! Rejecting all the lies and focusing on the truth – the good good truth, that is God wants to bless our everyday life such that we can enjoy, and enjoy it more than abundantly. 🙂 Praise God! And join me! 😀
