Be Thou my Vision

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, be Thou my true Word;
Thou ever with Thee and Thy with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, and I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my breastplate, my  Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my true might;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my strong Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Be Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, the first in my heart,
Sovereign of heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of heaven, when battle is done,
Grant heaven’s joys to me, O bright heaven’s Sun!
Oh Christ of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

I kinda missed this song. The first time i heard it was in mama’s car. At first, i could not understand all the “thou” and “thy” and whatever the song meant, but i just find the song nice and lingered in my mind always. One day, mama passed me the lyrics of the song, i was quite excited haha. I have no idea why, but yeah i sang the song to myself often then. Today as i reread the lyrics once more, i derived more meanings to it.

Oh Christ of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

God, please don’t ever let me let You go in any way.
